Ai Weiwei in Ukraine: Visits War Frontlines

Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei visited Ukraine and met with Ukrainian soldiers near Kharkiv, shortly before the presentation of his new work in Kyiv.
Ai Weiwei, creator of the installation "Sunflower Seeds", expressed his support for soldiers and cultural figures. He also met with Pyotr Verzilov, a member of Pussy Riot, who is fighting in Ukraine.
In his Instagram posts, Ai recorded his meetings and published shots of buildings in Kharkiv. He also wore a shirt with the Ukrainian word "Khartiia", referring to the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Ai told The Art Newspaper that Ukrainians are determined and believe that no one can influence their future. Verzilov also published photos of the visit, calling Ai a "symbol of contemporary art".
According to international media, Russian attacks in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia caused casualties. At the same time, a meeting was held between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders and Donald Trump.
