US Aircraft Carrier 'Gerald R. Ford' to Souda Bay After Fire

The US aircraft carrier 'Gerald R. Ford' is heading to Souda Bay naval base in Crete following a 30-hour fire. The vessel, which was involved in US operations in the Middle East, is expected to dock temporarily in Souda, according to Reuters.
The aircraft carrier has been in service for nine months, participating in operations against Venezuela before arriving in the Red Sea. Officials have not announced how long the ship will remain in Crete.
Nearly 200 sailors received medical attention for smoke-related injuries after a fire broke out in the ship's laundry area. One military member was evacuated from the ship due to injury.
