Trump: Fed Chair Announcement Next Week

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he intends to announce his nominee to replace Jerome Powell as chairman of the Federal Reserve (Fed) next week.

Powell's term expires in May 2026. Markets have been awaiting Trump's decision for weeks.

"Sometime next week (...) we will be announcing the head of the Fed," said the American President, who would like to dictate the decisions of this independent institution and constantly repeats that current interest rates are "too high."
