Trump Delays Tariff Increase on Imported Furniture

Donald Trump has delayed the increase of tariffs on certain imported furniture by one year. The measure was originally scheduled to take effect at midnight today.
Tariffs of 30% on certain furniture with fixed coverings and 50% on kitchen cabinets are postponed until January 2027.
The White House announced that the postponement is due to ongoing productive negotiations regarding wood product imports, in order to allow further negotiations with other countries.
In October, Trump had imposed new tariffs of 10% on lumber imports and 25% on furniture and kitchen cabinets to protect U.S. production capacity.
Market executives have expressed concerns about the lack of manufacturing capacity in the U.S., as the country relies heavily on imports from China, Mexico, and Vietnam.
