Trump Tariffs: Film Industry Ignores New Threats

Despite Donald Trump's threats of 100% tariffs on films produced outside the US, the film industry continues to invest in international productions. Studios in London, Budapest, and Sydney remain active.
Although the initial announcements caused concern, the industry seems to have adapted. According to Reuters, international projects are proceeding as normal, despite Trump's repeated threats to impose tariffs.
ProdPro data shows that foreign productions garnered $24.3 billion, compared to $16.6 billion in the US, due to tax incentives and lower labor costs. The United Kingdom leads with $8.7 billion, followed by Canada with $6.4 billion.
Central and Eastern Europe, including Budapest and Prague, are significant production destinations. Tax incentives and low labor costs attract major projects.
Instead of tariffs, companies are seeking tax incentives in the US to make domestic production more competitive.
