Chios: All-night battle with flames – Village evacuations

Firefighters, volunteers, and residents in the Amani area of Chios experienced a difficult night trying to contain the fire that broke out the previous afternoon.

The villages of Amani and Volissos were preventatively evacuated, with residents finding refuge with relatives and friends.

Today, the fire is raging on two fronts, with strong winds of 6 Beaufort making the situation difficult. The first front is moving between Pirama and Parparia, while the second is near Perdika, heading towards Sidirounta, Dieucha, and Chalandra. Five helicopters are operating in the area.
