Chile: Communist Jara Nominee for Presidential Elections

Yanet Jara, former Labor Minister in the government of President Gabriel Boric, will be the candidate of the ruling left-wing coalition in the presidential elections in Chile in November. She won the nomination in a vote of party supporters on Sunday.
With 93% of the ballots counted, Yanet Jara received over 60% of the votes, according to the country's electoral service (SERVEL). Carolina Toá came second with 27%, followed by Gonzalo Winter (8.9%) and Jaime Mulet (2.8%).
Yanet Jara will face José Antonio Kast and Evelyn Matthei in the November elections. The first round will be held on November 16, and if necessary, the second round on December 14.
