UK: Inquiry into Former Minister's Ties with Epstein

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has ordered an "inquiry" into Peter Mandelson's ties with Jeffrey Epstein. Chris Wormold will examine Mandelson's contacts with Epstein from 2008 to 2010, when the former was a minister.
In 2009, Mandelson sent Epstein an email regarding an internal government memo. In another communication, he suggested Epstein ask the head of JPMorgan to pressure the Finance Minister to reduce the tax on bankers' bonuses.
Mandelson resigned from the Labour Party following the revelations. Starmer believes he should not remain a member of the House of Lords. Bank data showed a transfer of $75,000 from Epstein to accounts linked to Mandelson in 2003 and 2004. Additionally, in 2009, Epstein transferred £10,000 to Reinaldo Avila da Silva, Mandelson's partner.
Mandelson has been suspended from the House of Lords since the end of January 2025.
