UK: International Cat Torture Ring Exposed by BBC

A BBC investigation has uncovered an international network that tortures and kills cats, sharing the videos online. The ring has thousands of members worldwide, including in the United Kingdom.
Network members are suggesting adopting cats from the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to torture them. The revelation comes after the conviction of two teenagers for torturing and killing cats in London.
Activists from Feline Guardians report that a new video of cat torture is uploaded every 14 hours. 24 active groups have been recorded, with the largest having over 1,000 members. One torturer has recorded the torture and killing of over 200 cats.
Police are investigating possible links to a wider network of torturers who film and sell the videos on encrypted applications. The groups started in China but are now active worldwide.
Lara, a volunteer with Feline Guardians, described the situation as "the depths of evil." The BBC saw videos of cats being drowned and electrocuted. New members are encouraged to abuse animals to gain access to the network.
Ian Briggs of the RSPCA called the abuse of animals "unacceptable." MP Johanna Baxter expressed concern about this trend, especially among young men.
