UK: Second Migrant Deported to France

A second migrant has been deported from the UK to France under a bilateral agreement, after a court rejected his appeal. Trade Minister Peter Kyle confirmed the deportation to ITV News.

The migrant, an Eritrean national, arrived in the UK in early August after crossing the English Channel. His deportation took place on a regular Air France flight, following the rejection of his appeal by a London court.

The Franco-British agreement, signed between Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer, concerns migrants arriving in the UK via the English Channel. A first migrant from India was deported yesterday.

At least three boats carrying migrants departed from the French coast this morning. More than 31,000 people have reached the British coast since the beginning of the year.

The UK has begun detaining migrants under the agreement, with 92 people being held awaiting their return to France. The first migrants to be allowed entry into the UK are expected to arrive "in the coming days" from France.
