UK: £100 Million to Combat Illegal Immigration

The British government has announced an additional £100 million in funding to combat illegal immigration. The funds will be used to strengthen the National Crime Agency (NCA) with 300 additional officers and to upgrade technological equipment.

The aim is to crack down on traffickers and reduce migration flows through the English Channel. As of July 31, 25,436 illegal immigrants had crossed the Channel, a record number.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said the funding would help monitor and dismantle trafficking gangs.

The Conservative Party described the move as a "desperate attempt," while Nigel Farage of Reform UK called it a waste of taxpayers' money.

Meanwhile, protests are increasing outside hotels housing asylum seekers, as demonstrated by the gathering in Canary Wharf, London.

The UK-France agreement to return illegal immigrants to France and receive legal asylum seekers from the UK is recalled.
