Ana Trisic Babic has been appointed as the interim president of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, following a final court decision against Milorad Dodik. The National Assembly of Republika Srpska appointed her in an emergency session, with 48 votes in favor.

Trisic-Babic, a graduate in international relations, has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2001 and served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2015. She also served as an advisor to Milorad Dodik for over 15 years.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called early elections for the President of Republika Srpska on November 23. The decision to appoint Trisic Babic was made after Dodik's conviction to one year imprisonment and a ban from holding public office for failing to implement decisions of the High Representative.

Dodik is also accused of failing to comply with elements of the Dayton Peace Agreement. He has been sanctioned by the US and the UK.
