Venice: Protests Against Bezos and City's Mayor

Over 500 protesters demonstrated in Venice against the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. The protest followed the wedding ceremony, which sparked reactions in the city.

Protesters chanted slogans like "Bezos, get out of the lagoon" and held placards accusing the mayor of Venice of corruption. The mobilization was organized by the collective "No Room for Bezos," which opposes the economic exploitation of the city and the environmental consequences.

Alice Baciocchi, an activist, stated that the protest is against the Amazon model and the exploitation of people and regions. Protesters raised banners and lit smoke bombs on the Rialto Bridge.

Matteo Battistutta, a student, emphasized that Venice is resisting and acting in its own interest, beyond tourism.

The wedding of Bezos and Sánchez took place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, with many famous guests, including Ivanka Trump, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates.
