Belgium: Soldiers Guard Israeli Targets After Anti-Semitic Attacks

Soldiers have been deployed in major Belgian cities to enhance the security of the Jewish community following a series of anti-Semitic attacks in Belgium and the Netherlands. The decision was made after an explosion at a synagogue in Liège.
Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken stated that security is a fundamental right and condemned anti-Semitism. Soldiers will guard Jewish sites, such as synagogues and schools, in cooperation with the federal police.
Dutch police have arrested five suspects for an arson attack on a synagogue in Rotterdam. Concerns have been raised about potential attacks against Jewish communities worldwide.
A spokesperson for the Belgian Ministry of Defense stated that the deployment of soldiers will take place in three phases: Brussels, Antwerp, and Liège.
