Tzitzikostas: Europe Must Be Ready Defensively

EU Transport Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas warns that European infrastructure is unsuitable for the rapid movement of military equipment in the event of a conflict with Russia. Speaking to the Financial Times, Tzitzikostas stressed the need to upgrade European roads, bridges, and railways.
The European Commission plans to invest €17 billion to improve military mobility, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and expedite troop movements. Tzitzikostas emphasized that Europe's defense depends on the ability to quickly move military forces.
This strategy comes amid growing security concerns in Europe and NATO warnings about potential Russian aggression. Tzitzikostas stressed the need for Europe to be prepared and not dependent on others for its defense.
