Three climbers have died in an avalanche in the Slovenian Alps. Rescuers recovered the bodies of two missing Croatian climbers on Monday, bringing the death toll to three.

The victims were members of a seven-member Croatian team. The avalanche swept them away on Sunday as they descended from a cabin near Mount Tosc in the Julian Alps, despite adverse weather conditions.

The head of the rescue operation, Miha Arh, stated that the bodies were found in a ravine, approximately 350 meters away from the site of the avalanche. The search had been suspended on Sunday due to the risk of a new avalanche but resumed on Monday with the use of helicopters, thanks to improved weather.

The Julian Alps are a popular destination for climbers. According to the national rescue association, approximately 20 people die annually in the mountains of Slovenia.
