Tragedy in Rome: Tour Guide Dies at the Colosseum

A 56-year-old tour guide died suddenly inside the Colosseum in Rome while accompanying a group of tourists. Despite the efforts of those present and rescuers, she could not be revived.
The tragic incident has renewed calls for a revision of the summer operating hours of the Colosseum and other archaeological sites. The Association of Certified Tourist Guides of Italy (AGTA) is requesting that the operating hours be shifted during the summer months to avoid exposing workers and tourists to the highest temperatures of the day.
AGTA specifically proposes operating the sites from 7 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., at least during the June-August period.
