Turkey: Forest Fires Rage in Izmir and Other Regions

Massive forest fires have broken out in various regions of Turkey, including the province of Izmir. In the Menderes area, between the Kuyucak and Orhanli areas of Seferihisar, a fire broke out in a forest area around 13:00.
The fire spread quickly due to strong winds. Ground and air forces were mobilized at the scene, including 6 planes, 23 fire trucks and 678 people.
The Governor of Izmir, Suleyman Elban, reported that helicopters were taken out of service for safety reasons due to bad weather. Precautionary evacuations began in Orhanli.
A second fire broke out in Gaziemir, near the Beyazevler area, spreading towards Vuca. Some roads were closed for safety reasons. So far, there have been no reports of casualties.
