Crown Iris with Israeli Tourists Arrives in Cyprus After Syros Protest

The cruise ship "Crown Iris", of Israeli interests, was forced to change course and head to Limassol, Cyprus, after protests at the port of Ermoupoli in Syros on July 22, 2025.

More than 300 protesters, supporting Palestine, prevented the disembarkation of approximately 1,600 Israeli passengers. The ship sailed without the passengers disembarking, and there was communication between the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Israel.

Adonis Georgiadis, the Minister of Health, expressed his anger at the incident, stressing that it is "inconceivable" to prevent tourists from visiting Greece. He apologized to the Israeli tourists and assured them of the friendship between Greece and Israel.
