Munich Airport Suspended Due to Drone Activity, 17 Flights Canceled

Munich Airport suspended operations on Thursday evening due to the presence of drones in the area. The suspension caused flight cancellations and diversions, affecting thousands of passengers.

According to airport authorities, 17 flights were canceled and 15 were diverted to neighboring airports such as Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, and Vienna. The disruption affected approximately 3,000 passengers.

The incident began around 21:30 (local time) when eyewitnesses reported the presence of drones near the airport. Police confirmed that the drones reappeared over the facilities about an hour later.

Airport operations were fully suspended around 22:30, prohibiting all takeoffs and landings. German authorities stated that they do not expect full operations to resume before 5:00 AM on Friday.
