British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has ordered an inquiry into the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and Peter Mandelson, a former UK ambassador to Washington and former minister.

The inquiry will examine contacts between the two men from 2008 to 2010, when Mandelson was a minister. The investigation was prompted by files released by the US Department of Justice, according to which Mandelson sent Epstein an email concerning an internal government memo in 2009.

Mandelson also allegedly suggested that Epstein ask the head of JPMorgan to pressure the British Finance Minister to reduce the tax on bankers' bonuses.

Mandelson resigned from the Labour Party following the revelations. Starmer believes he should no longer be a member of the House of Lords.

Previous disclosures showed transfers totaling $75,000 from Epstein to accounts linked to Mandelson in 2003 and 2004.
