Sofia Zacharaki: Message for the death of Sofia Corradi, the 'mother' of Erasmus

Sofia Zacharaki expressed her sorrow for the death of Sofia Corradi, the Italian academic who inspired the Erasmus program. Corradi passed away at the age of 91 in Rome.
Sofia Corradi, a professor of Educational Sciences at Roma Tre University, dedicated her life to promoting education. She studied law with honors in Rome and completed a master's degree at Columbia University in New York with a Fulbright scholarship.
Her personal experience, when her American degree was not recognized in Italy, was the reason for the creation of Erasmus. As she stated, the refusal to recognize her degree from Columbia University prompted her to seek a European solution to balance academic qualifications.
Her family described her as a woman with "great energy and intellectual and emotional generosity."
