Izmir Fire: Battle Against Renewals Due to Winds

Firefighters are battling renewals in Izmir due to strong winds. Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli, inspected the affected areas between Menderes and Seferihisar.
Yumakli stated that fires continue to burn in Manisa (Akhisar) and Izmir (Seferihisar and Menderes). A total of 263 fires have been addressed in Turkey over the past 3 days. More than 1,000 personnel are operating in Izmir with planes, helicopters, and vehicles.
Wind speeds reaching 120 km/h have hampered operations. Four villages and two districts have been evacuated as a precaution. Special teams will assess the damage. Twenty-one citizens received first aid for respiratory problems.
Yumakli appealed for caution, as most fires are caused by human activities.
