Controversy in Sweden: Shadows over Mosque Funding in Skärholmen

An investigation into the funding of the grand mosque in Skärholmen, Stockholm, is underway, following reports linking the financing to the Islamist movement Millî Görüş.
According to the website Samnytt and the blog Hyperboreans, the municipality of Stockholm contributed to the construction, while the remaining funding may originate from fundraisers linked to Millî Görüş, through a German bank account at KT Bank AG.
Political scientist Daniel Schatz linked the funding to the EMUG organization, part of Millî Görüş's broader European network. Hasenat TV, a Turkish channel, is allegedly promoting the mosque's funding.
The project, which plans to accommodate 1,200 people, has sparked reactions from residents and criticism regarding the transparency of the approval and control process.
The Myndigheten för ungdoms- och civilsamhällesfrågor (MUCF) has not provided clear answers regarding the supervision of the funding, leaving unanswered questions about the financiers and the controls carried out.
