A Russian airstrike has cut off power to a section of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, according to Ukraine's Energy Ministry.

The outage affected the New Safe Confinement, a critical structure isolating the damaged fourth unit and preventing radioactive material release.

Earlier, a Russian drone attacked a substation in Slavutych, causing power outages in the city and parts of the Chernihiv province.

In February, a Russian Shahed drone struck the New Safe Confinement, causing damage but no serious radiation leaks.

Meanwhile, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, under Russian occupation since March 2022, remains disconnected from the Ukrainian power grid for over 100 hours. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the situation as 'critical'.
