Russia Claims Capture of Novomykolaivka Village in Dnipropetrovsk

Russia announced on Saturday that it had captured the village of Novomykolaivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims its troops seized the village, which is located near the border with the Donetsk region.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) notes that it was unable to verify the claim. DeepState, an online battlefield map run by Ukrainian military analysts, reported that the village remains under Kyiv's control.
In late August, Ukraine admitted that Russian forces had entered the Dnipropetrovsk region. The Russian military controls approximately one-fifth of Ukrainian territory.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Vladimir Putin seeks to occupy all of Ukraine. The Kremlin reports that peace negotiations with Kyiv are on hold.
