Fire at Córdoba Cathedral-Mosque

A fire broke out at the famous Córdoba Cathedral-Mosque in Spain on Friday evening. The UNESCO World Heritage Site attracted over 2 million visitors in 2024.
Videos circulating online show flames and smoke emanating from inside the temple. According to local media, the fire started from a scanning machine in one of the chapels around 9 p.m. (Spanish time) and spread to the roof.
Fire authorities announced that the fire was brought under control shortly after midnight (Greek time), but has not been completely extinguished. The extent of the damage to the historic building has not been clarified.
