British Foreign Secretary Faces Fine for Fishing Without a License

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy may face a fine of up to £2,500 after admitting he did not have the necessary fishing license when fishing last week with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.
The two officials were photographed fishing in the lake of the Foreign Secretary's country residence at Chevening House in Kent, before a bilateral meeting. According to the law, all anglers are required to have a valid rod fishing license, even if they are fishing on private land. Violators risk a fine of up to £2,500.
Lammy's office admitted the omission, stating that the Foreign Secretary proceeded to purchase the required license as soon as he was informed of the error. It was not clear whether a license was also issued for Vance.
The American Vice President is in Britain with his wife and children, spending part of their vacation in the Cotswolds, after staying at Chevening House.
