Seville and Huelva Flooded by First Autumn Storm

Significant flooding has affected the Andalusia region in Spain, particularly the cities of Seville and Huelva, due to the first major autumn storm. At least 600 incidents were reported.
The regional government of Andalusia activated operational level 1 of the Flood Risk Plan (PERI) following a warning from the Spanish State Meteorological Agency – AEMET. Dozens of roads and universities have ceased operations.
In Huelva, a waterspout hit Isla Cristina, causing damage to trees and infrastructure. In Seville, the floods caused disruptions to the metro and suburban train services. The Fibes Conference and Exhibition Centre was forced to close due to a power outage.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) had issued a red alert for torrential rains in the area.
