Eva Schloss, Anne Frank's Stepsister and Holocaust Survivor, Dies at 96

Eva Schloss, the stepsister of Anne Frank and a Holocaust survivor, has died in London at the age of 96. The news was announced by a foundation bearing Anne Frank's name.
Her family expressed their "great sadness" at the loss of this "remarkable woman, Auschwitz survivor, dedicated educator on the Shoah." King Charles III and Camilla also expressed their condolences.
Eva Schloss was born in Austria in 1929 and later fled with her family to Amsterdam, where she lived across the street from Anne Frank. The two families were forced into hiding in 1942. Eva was arrested in 1944 and sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau. She survived and settled in London after the war.
Eva's mother married Anne Frank's father, Otto Frank. Eva Schloss dedicated her life to spreading the memory of the Holocaust and fighting prejudice. She obtained British citizenship and later regained Austrian citizenship.
