Netherlands: Military Opens Fire on Drones Over Air Base

The Dutch military opened fire on unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) detected flying over an air base in Volkel, near the German border, on Friday evening.
Security personnel at the base observed the drones between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. local time. According to the Ministry of Defense, the air force used ground-based weapons to shoot down the drones, which then departed and were not recovered.
It is unclear why the drones were flying in the area. The military police have launched an investigation into the incident.
