Greeks Stranded in Thailand Due to Flight Cancellations

Approximately 30 Greek tourists are stranded in Pattaya, Thailand, due to a series of flight cancellations triggered by geopolitical developments in the Middle East. The travelers are facing significant difficulties in their attempts to return to Greece.
Among them is Stavros Providakis, a former police officer, who spoke to Protothema.gr describing the situation. He stated that the ordeal began in early March when his scheduled return flight with Etihad, route Bangkok – Abu Dhabi – Athens, was canceled. Initially, the airline provided temporary accommodation, but this was soon discontinued.
Mr. Providakis contacted the Greek embassy for assistance, but he claims the response was inadequate. According to him, there are approximately 30 Greeks stranded in Pattaya, while he mentions that 9 Cypriots managed to return on March 11 through the initiative of the Cypriot embassy.
Despite the issuance of new tickets, uncertainty remains, with travelers covering their own accommodation costs, which have increased significantly due to their prolonged stay in Thailand.
