Dagestan: Floods and Landslides Leave Five Dead, Thousands Displaced

At least five people have died and thousands have been forced to flee their homes due to floods and landslides in the Russian republic of Dagestan, authorities announced.
Entire villages have been turned into lakes in the Caucasus region, near the border with Azerbaijan. A video shows the collapse of a section of an apartment building in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan.
Four people, including three children, died when their cars were swept away by streams. One person was killed by a landslide. Sewage treatment plants have suspended operations due to power outages.
Meteorologists are warning of continued rainfall. Dagestan had already been hit by devastating floods last week, leading to a state of emergency.
