Mitsotakis Requests Reference to Turkey-Libya Memorandum

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis requested that explicit references to the 2019 Turkey-Libya memorandum be included in the European Council's conclusions. He also conveyed to European partners the increase in migration flows from eastern Libya, requesting the Commission's support.

According to the Prime Minister, the responsible European Commissioner, along with Ministers from Italy, Greece, and Malta, will visit eastern and western Libya in early July to convey to the Libyan Authorities that this practice is unacceptable.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed hope that the European Council will condemn the terrorist attack in Damascus targeting Greek Orthodox Christians.
