Mediterranean Fires: Battling Wildfires Across Southern Europe

Wildfires are raging across the Mediterranean, causing immense devastation from Iberia to the Balkans. High temperatures and strong winds are exacerbating the situation, with reports of arson.
Spain: A 35-year-old volunteer firefighter died, bringing the total number of fire-related deaths in Spain to six. Many fires are being investigated as arson.
Portugal: A fire that started in Trancoso continues to burn, with over 7,500 acres scorched. Approximately 1,200 firefighters are operating in the area.
Albania: Albania is in a critical situation, with 24 active fires. Flames reached villages, forcing residents to evacuate.
Other countries: Fires are also raging in Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, and France, where temperature records have been broken.
In Greece, flames have reached near the urban area of Patras, while fires are ongoing in Chios, Kefalonia and Preveza.
