Mass Protest in Paris After Migrant's Death in Police Custody

Thousands of protesters gathered in Paris to express their solidarity with the family of El Hacen Diarra, a 35-year-old Mauritanian migrant who died while in police custody.
Protesters, chanting slogans such as "we are against the police who kill", gathered in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, where Diarra resided. His arrest took place in front of the apartment building where he lived.
Diarra's family is demanding justice, claiming that his death resulted from police violence. A video circulating shows a police officer punching Diarra while he is on the ground.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez stated that the police officer involved in the incident should provide explanations, while a local MP, Anne Bodon, criticized the fact that the police officers have not been suspended.
Authorities are investigating the causes of El Hacen Diarra's death.
