Lampedusa: 6-Year-Old Girl Dies After Arriving 12 Days Ago

A 6-year-old girl who arrived in Lampedusa with her mother on August 8, died this afternoon. The girl, from Guinea, had traveled for five days on a dilapidated boat with other migrants and refugees, without water and food.

After her arrival, she was transferred to a pediatric hospital in Palermo, Sicily, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit. Today, ten bodies of migrants and refugees who lost their lives in the central Mediterranean last week were transferred to Agrigento, Sicily.
