Flights to and from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) faced disruptions on Friday evening due to a drone sighting near the airport.

Flights were suspended for two hours, from 21:00 to 23:00 (Greek time), causing 11 aircraft to be diverted to airports such as Leipzig, Dresden, and Hamburg. Three flights to London, Birmingham, and Stockholm were canceled.

Police are conducting searches in the area with helicopters, while flights have resumed. An exemption from the night flight ban has been granted.

Incidents involving drones near German airports have increased. The German government has announced the creation of a special coordination center to deal with drones.
