Spain: Third Death in Wildfires

A person has died while trying to extinguish a forest fire in the Castile and León region of northwestern Spain, authorities announced. This marks the third death related to this summer's wildfires in the country.
The regional governor of Castile and León, Nicanor Sen Vélez, wrote on X that the victim was part of the firefighting force in the province of León.
Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska confirmed the death and expressed his condolences. He also stated that eleven level 2 fires have broken out and that they are of concern to the authorities, especially in Zamora.
A man died from burns in a fire in Tres Cantos, near Madrid, while a 35-year-old volunteer lost his life in the León region. The country is facing a heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
