Spain: Employee Fired for Internet Use Awarded €40,000 Compensation

An employee in Spain was fired for using his work computer for personal internet browsing. The company, after an internal audit, dismissed him for violating company rules.
However, the Supreme Court ruled that the dismissal was disproportionate. It decided that the employee should either be reinstated or receive €40,000 in compensation.
The court acknowledged that the employee's behavior was reprehensible, but not serious enough to justify dismissal.
