Germany: Sewage Overflow Caused Train Derailment

A landslide caused by a sewage overflow is responsible for the train derailment in southwestern Germany, authorities say.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the death of three people and injuries to dozens of others. The area had experienced heavy rainfall prior to the incident.
The overflow of a sewage manhole caused the displacement of soil and materials onto the tracks, leading to the derailment of the passenger train. The victims include the train driver, a railway employee, and a passenger. The injured number 41, some of whom are in serious condition.
Ulm police reported that the train derailed on a route between Sigmaringen and Ulm. Investigations into the exact causes of the accident are ongoing.
