Germany: Military Helicopter Crashes into River

A military helicopter crashed into the Mulde River in northeastern Saxony, near Leipzig, on Monday morning, according to a police statement. Information regarding the number or fate of those on board is not yet available.
The incident was reported to authorities by canoe-kayak athletes who saw helicopter parts and a large amount of fuel floating on the river's surface. Rescue teams are currently operating at the scene, both from the air and in the river.
According to the German newspaper BILD, the pilot is missing, and the rescue operation is hampered by kerosene in the water, which makes the wreckage in the middle of the riverbed inaccessible.
Investigations are in full swing.
