Germany: AfD and CDU/CSU Tied in New Poll

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) are tied for first place in an ARD poll, which also reveals citizen dissatisfaction with the government's performance and concern about the functioning of democracy.
In the current DeutschlandTrend, the AfD and CDU/CSU both garner 26%. The AfD has increased its support by 10 points in the last year, while the CDU/CSU has lost one point. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) remains at 14%, the Greens at 12%, and The Left at 10%. The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) each receive 3%.
Dissatisfaction with the government has risen to 77% from 51% in June. Only 42% are satisfied with the functioning of democracy, while 56% express dissatisfaction. 30% believe that the far-right and populist right pose a threat to democracy.
Regarding Israel, 63% consider its reaction to the Hamas attack to be excessive, while 55% support the recognition of a Palestinian state and the imposition of sanctions on Israel.
