Germany Considers Allowing Military to Shoot Down Drones

Germany is considering allowing its military to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), according to a report in the Bild newspaper. The government plans to revise air security laws so that the military can assist the police in defending against drones.
In recent days, drones have been spotted flying over airports in Denmark and Norway, causing temporary closures. Germany, a key supporter of Ukraine, has also reported an increase in suspicious drone sightings, with the latest recorded in a northern state bordering Denmark.
According to Bild, the military should be able to intervene if a drone poses a serious threat to human life or critical infrastructure. The final decision would be made by the German Ministry of Defense.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that the government plans to revise air security laws so that the military can assist the police "specifically in defending against unmanned aircraft."
