Germany: Rising Dissatisfaction with the Mertz Government

A new poll reveals significant dissatisfaction among German citizens with the government and Chancellor Friedrich Mertz. 69% of citizens express dissatisfaction with the government's performance, while 65% express similar dissatisfaction with Chancellor Mertz.

According to the DeutschlandTrend survey, conducted by the Infratest-dimap Institute for ARD, only 29% of citizens are satisfied with the government, a 10% decrease compared to the previous month.

Chancellor Mertz's popularity has also declined, with 32% expressing a positive view of his work, compared to 43% before his election. 61% find Mr. Mertz's communication style unconvincing, and only 26% consider him trustworthy.

Regarding crisis management, 66% of respondents believe the government should exert more pressure on Israel regarding the situation in Gaza.

In voting intentions, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) leads with 27%, followed by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) with 24%, and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) with 13%.
