Germany: Police Officer Accidentally Shoots Soldier During Exercise

A German soldier was accidentally shot by a police officer during a Bundeswehr exercise in the town of Erding, Bavaria. The incident occurred due to a misunderstanding between the soldiers and the police, who had been called by residents.
The soldier was treated for minor injuries and has already been discharged from the hospital. The exercise, named Marshal Power, involves approximately 500 military police officers and hundreds of first responders from the police, fire department, and rescue services in twelve Bavarian cities.
The police responded to reports of a man with a weapon and sent units, including a helicopter. According to the Bild newspaper, the military police fired training ammunition at the arriving police officers, who returned fire with live ammunition.
The Bavarian police reported that they are conducting an investigation into the incident in cooperation with local authorities.
