France: Succession Scenarios if Bayrou Falls

Emmanuel Macron will face pressure to choose a prime minister from the left if François Bayrou loses the vote of confidence, as the last two appointments came from the right and center.
A likely candidate is Olivier Faure, leader of the Socialists. Other names mentioned include Bernard Cazeneuve, Pierre Moscovici, and Éric Lombard.
From the Center and Right, Sébastien Lecornu is considered the frontrunner. The names of Catherine Vautrin, Bruno Retailleau, and Gérald Darmanin are also circulating.
It remains doubtful whether strong party members will want to take on the position of prime minister ahead of the 2027 elections.
