A major wildfire continues for a third day in France, with firefighters struggling to contain the blaze that has been raging since Tuesday.

The fire started near the village of Ribot, in the Aude department, and has already burned over 16,000 hectares.

A 65-year-old woman died in the village of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, and 13 people have been injured, including firefighters.

Officials are calling the fire the largest in France since 1949.

The wind changed direction, turning the fire towards the Corbières mountains, affecting approximately 15 villages.
