Von der Leyen: 'Our Critical Infrastructure is at Risk'

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the drone incidents that halted flights at Copenhagen Airport were part of a 'pattern of continuous challenging at our borders'.

'Our critical infrastructure is at risk,' von der Leyen said in a post on the X platform, adding that the events are still under investigation. 'And Europe will respond to this threat with strength and determination'.

Copenhagen and Oslo airports were temporarily closed on Monday due to the presence of unidentified drones. Danish police reported that the drones appeared to be operated by a 'capable operator'.

Police Chief Jens Jespersen stated that the drones in Copenhagen came from different directions flashing their lights before disappearing. Flights were diverted, and flight schedule disruptions are expected.

Danish and Norwegian authorities are collaborating on the incidents, while the origin of the drones remains unknown.
