February 2026: Warmer Than Average Temperatures in Greece

This year's February was warmer than average across Greece, according to data recorded by the Meteo weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens (E.A.A.).

Specifically, the network of 53 weather stations recorded higher average maximum daily temperatures compared to the average for the period 2010–2019 in all geographical regions.

In Athens, the average monthly deviation of the maximum temperature was +1.4 °C, with 22 out of the 28 days of the month being recorded above normal levels. In Thessaloniki, 23 days of the month were above the average value for the period 2010–2019, with the average maximum temperature showing a deviation of +1.0 °C from normal levels.

In Northern Greece, February 2026 was recorded as the 6th warmest since 2010. In the Peloponnese it was the 4th warmest, while in Thessaly, Central Greece, Western Greece – Ionian, Crete, the Aegean Islands and the Dodecanese it was ranked as the 3rd warmest of the period.
